Welcome to Mantis Martial Arts!
Traditional Praying Mantis Gung-Fu & Yang Tai-Chi chuan classes for the modern society of all ages and levels, as well as Chi-Gung (meditation) on Long Island, NY.
All classes are held and taught by Chief Instructor and certified 10th generation disciple Sifu, Mazi Massachi under Master Tony Chuy of the Praying Mantis Martial Arts Institute.
Private and semi-private classes are available upon request, as well as self-defense seminars for all.

Northern Mantis Kung Fu
A complete program from basic to advanced levels. This style is known for its speed, agility and flexibility.
It utilizes both long range and close quarter tactics, grabbing and trapping strategies and take-down techniques.
Practicing this style develops coordination, builds up good reflexes and improves mental focus in order to remain calm in any fighting situation.
Students from absolute novices in the martial arts to previous practitioners of other martial arts are welcome.

Yang Tai Chi Chuan
This gentle, classical exercise form is designed to improve health, develop inner energy (chi) and teach how to use minimal force against a stronger opponent.
This program teaches mental concentration and relaxation as well as practical, but non-aggressive self-defense techniques. By practicing this system, one will relax the body, reduce stress and improve circulation.
This program is suitable for people who seek a less strenuous activity or those who are physically limited but wish to gain the benefits of health and self-defense.

Traditional Weaponry
The school offers traditional Chinese weapons training including saber, staff, spear, sword, daggers, 2-sectional staff, 3-sectional staff and long-handled broadsword (halberd).
These classes are open to other martial arts stylists who wish to learn a Chinese weapon set without going through the full training program that our school offers.

Lion Dance
Traditional Chinese Southern Lion Dance training, music and performances for special events and holidays.
Lion dance is a traditional Asian art form that originated in China and dates back 5000 years. Performers mimic a lion's movements in a lion costume to tell a story and bring good luck and fortune to the audience.
