Sifu, Maziar Massachi
Sifu Maziar Massachi was born in Tehran, Iran, in 1974. His journey into the martial arts began at an early age under the influence of his uncle, Ardavan Tabibian, who first introduced him to Kung Fu. He later joined his older brother, Shai Massachi, in training at the Kung Fu To’A school founded by Grandmaster Ebrahim Mirzaii during the late 1970s, a formative era in Iran’s martial arts history.
In 1983, Maziar immigrated to Israel, where he continued his martial arts journey under Master Yehuda Offner of Nam Pai Chuan in Jerusalem, studying Shaolin Kung Fu. In 1990, he immigrated to the United States, carrying with him a growing passion for the study and practice of traditional Chinese martial arts.
In 1993, Maziar was accepted as a student of Master Tony Chuy and began training at the Praying Mantis Martial Arts Institute. There, he dedicated himself to the rigorous study and preservation of the Northern Praying Mantis Kung Fu and Yang-style Tai Chi Chuan systems, deepening his understanding of their techniques, principles, and traditions.
In 2004, Maziar was accepted as a 10th-generation closed-door disciple under Master Tony Chuy, marking a significant milestone in his martial arts journey. This distinction reflects his continued commitment to the transmission and preservation of his teacher’s martial arts traditions.
Today, Sifu Maziar Massachi teaches in Long Island, New York, sharing his knowledge and experience with students while continuing the practice and preservation of the traditional martial arts systems to which he has devoted his life.
